I've been a media fan for about 20 years. My first contact with organized fandom was a Dr. Who con in the mid80s, but it was run by Creation so it doesn't count. It wasn't until a few years later that I started going to real cons and buying zines. When I found out about slash, I couldn't walk for a week. Slash and the Internet changed my life but I was a fan from the second I met the love of my life, television. One of the most vivid memories of my childhood is how pissed off I was that having to have my tonsils out meant missing an episode of Daktari. Another early memory is seeing Mary Poppins at a drive-in, so I have a long history with movies as well. Once I learned to read, the media triumvirate that rules my life was complete. I still remember the excitement of getting my first library card and standing in the mystery section of the tiny public library in my hometown. So. That's me and my life as a mediated individual.
